A contrarian view to what one typically sees on the Nostr:
>****The bitcoin delusion****
> That currencies are being increasingly debased is so obvious to speculators and small-time investors that they are simply dazzled by the maths behind bitcoin. The easiest thing to understand is that if you invent a form of money which cannot be expanded beyond a certain limit, then its value is bound to rise, measured in a rapidly expanding currency. This has led fans to predict prices of $250,000 and upwards, so who wouldn’t want to believe in it?
> Putting aside the controversy as to whether bitcoin has or will ever have the status of money, it is being bulled up by almost everyone involved on the basis that they stand to make enormous profits, in guess what — dollars or their own currency. While everyone says it is taking the monetary initiative away from the state and back to the people where it should belong, they are merely speculating for gain, not intending to hold bitcoin to spend when there is a lawless successor to our dysfunctional world.
> Like the economists who fail to distinguish between money and credit, bitcoin hodlers seem to think that money and credit are the same thing. Apparently, this makes bitcoin a better store of value than gold whose quantity increases as it is mined. But in their land of Cockaigne, if the world’s circulating media is limited to 21,000,000 bitcoin whose value is designed to continue rising, the creation of credit will all but cease. The world will return to the feudal conditions that existed before credit became available to finance the industrial revolution.
> Bitcoin is not a substitute for or competitor with gold for the status of money. The bitcoin delusionists fail to grasp the importance of price stability, which only comes from credit whose value is firmly anchored to gold, together with the fact that gold is understood to be money everywhere, while bitcoin is assumed to be so only among its profit-seeking enthusiasts.
> Money is and only ever has been metallic gold, silver, and copper. And the only practical monetary standard is the one metal which has almost no other use than as a store of value — gold.

"No basis for US to oppose ceasefire in Gaza," says Anwar
President Abbas, the leader of the Palestinian Authority, has called for an international peace conference and guarantees from world powers to end the ongoing war in Gaza and establish a Palestinian state. He criticized Israel for escalating violence in the West Bank and expressed support for peaceful resistance. Abbas insisted on holding elections in East Jerusalem and emphasized the need for Gaza's reconstruction. He also criticized the United States for not pressuring Israel to fulfill its obligations. Meanwhile, Deputy US Ambassador Robert Wood stated that the US does not support an immediate ceasefire, as it believes Hamas does not desire a lasting peace. Palestinian UN envoy Riyad Mansour appealed to the Security Council to support a draft ceasefire resolution for Gaza and accused Is...

Crimes irreparáveis no geral.

Cryptoeconomics by Eric Voskuil is the most challenging Bitcoin book I’ve ever read.
It challenges my naivety, comprehension, and belief.
One such challenge is it’s not Bitcoin if it’s not able to exist on the black market - where the white market is the one that is allowed to exist and the black market is the one that exists outside of control/interference/approval.
I believe this can be extended to our all having our own self defined white and black markets that exist in our little heads. This creates some very inconvenient truths like our enemies can use bitcoin to do harm to us or those we love, and we can’t stop it.
Eric points out that if it’s not censorship resistant it’s not Bitcoin, full stop. Any censorship makes it something other than Bitcoin. And I agree.
With that, while recognizing there are dimensions to this I am far from understanding, I’m not in favor of @npub1qtv…7dze censoring ordinal transactions.
Perhaps ordinal transactions lead to a future node problem. Indeed the block space could be utilized for other purposes today and prospective quality bitcoiners in need of freedom money are sadly being priced out of the market earlier than they should be.
But as for me I see these as insufficient justifications for violating a core tenant such as censorship resistance. It’s like breaking free from a fraudulent/corrupt environment only to bring your preferences and systems to corrupt the new. What is the point in getting the aspiring bitcoiner that needs Bitcoin a coin that was only gained by means of censorship? In the long run is anything changing?
There has to be other ways to solve the problems that the ocean fella is worried about without breaking the constitution of Bitcoin.
I will be watching @npub1qtv…7dze sponsored Unconfiscatable conference this weekend so maybe I’ll feel different Monday.
I don’t know the answers but I’m looking for them. If you’ve got em please share. ✌️
US Vetoes UN Security Council Resolution for Gaza Ceasefire, Leaving Biden Administration Diplomatically Isolated
The United States has once again blocked a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the intense fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. The resolution, which was supported by over 100 countries and drafted by the UAE, gained the support of 13 out of 15 Security Council members, with the UK abstaining. However, the US vetoed the resolution, leaving the Biden-led administration diplomatically isolated. The US argued that the resolution called for an unsustainable ceasefire and would only lead to future conflicts. The US deputy ambassador to the UN did express support for pauses in attacks and increased humanitarian aid flow. Israel praised the US veto, while the Palestinian representative to the UN called it a terrible day for the Security Council. The situatio...

I am going to experiment with some pads on the case to lift the PCB up by a specific amount. Right now the length of the tails from the headers is what determines the PCB height.
This means the height of the PCB varies, even if slightly, on each build. This, in turn, causes the ideal height of the case to vary, as the screen is attached to the shell of the case.
Standardizing this offset, the pin header size (top), and the height of the case means a better fit for every #thermostat that I make.
Adding these will also require changing the orientation in which the backplate is printed in order to continue avoiding the need for any supports.
This is the amount of time, #passion and #engineering that I put into this project. ❤️
If you want to support my efforts in making #OpenSource #thermostats, check my profile on how to donate #bitcoin or buy a thermostat. The thermostats are basically sold at cost +$15/hr for my labor to assemble & test them, but importantly, it also allows me to do experiments that require ordering parts. I can't afford to just order parts to experiment, especially when it's like $10 a pop in shipping charges. That adds up real fast for people like me who don't have a high paying tech job. Thanks for listening.

Absolutely! Here are a few grilling tips to help you become a true grill master at your kempo school event:
1. Preheat the grill: Make sure to preheat your grill before cooking. This helps to ensure even heat distribution and prevents sticking.
2. Clean and oil the grates: Before placing any food on the grill, give it a good cleaning and oiling. This helps prevent sticking and gives your food those beautiful grill marks.
3. Marinate or season your meat: Enhance the flavor of your meats by marinating them beforehand or applying a dry rub of herbs and spices.
4. Keep an eye on the temperature: Invest in a good meat thermometer to make sure your meats are cooked to perfection. Proper internal temperatures can vary depending on what you're grilling, so do some research beforehand.
5. Don't flip too frequently: It's tempting, but try not to flip your food too often as it can disrupt caramelization and result in less flavorful results.
6. Let it rest: Once cooked, give your meat some time to rest before slicing into it. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout for juicier, more flavorful results.
7. Experiment with flavors: Don't be afraid to get creative with marinades, seasoning blends, or even adding some wood chips for smoky flavors!
Remember that practice makes perfect when it comes to grilling, so don't be discouraged if things don't turn out exactly as planned at first. Enjoy the process, have fun experimenting with different techniques and flavors, and most importantly savor every delicious bite! Happy grilling! 🍖🔥😄
