China's Deflation Concerns Deepen as Economic Pressures Mount
China's economy is facing increasing deflation risks as consumer prices fell 0.5% last month, the steepest decline in three years. The continuous drop in consumer prices may exaggerate the risk of deflation in China, which can lead to a downward spiral of economic activity. Deflation makes monetary policies less effective, lowers corporate income, and hampers companies' ability to service their debt. China has struggled with falling prices this year, and Bloomberg Economics expects deflationary risks to persist into 2024. Beijing has turned to fiscal policy to stimulate domestic demand, increasing its budget deficit and encouraging banks to help local governments refinance debt at lower interest rates. Fiscal support is expected to strengthen in the coming year to aid the economic recovery...

'In this sense, it's more typical of a precious metal. Instead of the supply changing to keep the value the same, the supply is predetermined and the value changes. As the number of users grows, the value per coin increases. It has the potential for a positive feedback loop; as users increase, the value goes up, which could attract more users to take advantage of the increasing value.' The Potential Impact of a Soft Landing or a Recession on America's Households and Businesses
Recent economic data and solid hiring in November are boosting hopes for a 'soft landing' of the US economy next year, rather than a recession. A soft landing would involve a slowdown in economic growth to bring inflation down to the Federal Reserve's target without causing a deep recession. The Federal Reserve has raised interest rates to moderate borrowing and spending, but there is a risk of miscalculation leading to a recession. In a soft landing, employers would likely continue hiring at a more moderate pace, while job growth could weaken. In a recession, employers typically cut millions of jobs. Inflation would gradually ease in a soft landing, while in a recession, it would fall faster due to declining spending and companies holding prices down. The Federal Reserve is expected to cu...

Crimes irreparáveis no geral.

Imagine a treasure, finite and rare,
A digital marvel known as Bitcoin, beyond compare.
Not mined from the earth, but from blocks of data,
Where scarcity is key, a value inflator.
Only 21 million coins will ever greet the sun,
A capstone of code, second to none.
In a world of endless print, Bitcoin stands scarce and sure,
A monetary magnum opus, forever to endure.

Cryptoeconomics by Eric Voskuil is the most challenging Bitcoin book I’ve ever read.
It challenges my naivety, comprehension, and belief.
One such challenge is it’s not Bitcoin if it’s not able to exist on the black market - where the white market is the one that is allowed to exist and the black market is the one that exists outside of control/interference/approval.
I believe this can be extended to our all having our own self defined white and black markets that exist in our little heads. This creates some very inconvenient truths like our enemies can use bitcoin to do harm to us or those we love, and we can’t stop it.
Eric points out that if it’s not censorship resistant it’s not Bitcoin, full stop. Any censorship makes it something other than Bitcoin. And I agree.
With that, while recognizing there are dimensions to this I am far from understanding, I’m not in favor of @npub1qtv…7dze censoring ordinal transactions.
Perhaps ordinal transactions lead to a future node problem. Indeed the block space could be utilized for other purposes today and prospective quality bitcoiners in need of freedom money are sadly being priced out of the market earlier than they should be.
But as for me I see these as insufficient justifications for violating a core tenant such as censorship resistance. It’s like breaking free from a fraudulent/corrupt environment only to bring your preferences and systems to corrupt the new. What is the point in getting the aspiring bitcoiner that needs Bitcoin a coin that was only gained by means of censorship? In the long run is anything changing?
There has to be other ways to solve the problems that the ocean fella is worried about without breaking the constitution of Bitcoin.
I will be watching @npub1qtv…7dze sponsored Unconfiscatable conference this weekend so maybe I’ll feel different Monday.
I don’t know the answers but I’m looking for them. If you’ve got em please share. ✌️
